Bast The Egyptian Cat Goddess
Our Basty was a *good*, sweet, beautiful, fluffy, sometimes demanding, long haired, graceful, kitty. She was a bully to the other cats but a dear sweet good natured kitty to us. Our big fluffy beauty was always the picture of health. We can't believe she is gone and we miss her very much.
I adopted Bast on December 3, 1994 when she was about 6 months old. When I saw her in the shelter I knew I had to bring her home and take care of her. She was the most beautiful cat I had ever seen. She developed a terrible head cold almost immediately. I took care of her and wrapped her in towels and blankets and kept her near me at all times to try to keep her warm. She got better and grew into the magnificent cat she was for most of her life.
One day while waiting in line at PetSmart I saw a cat magazine. It had a cat with the exact same facial markings as my Bast. I realized she must be a pure bred Norwegian Forest Cat. Bast was vastly prettier than the kitty on the magazine cover. I used to tell Bast that if I were half as pretty a person as she was a cat I could be a super model.
She was our alpha kitty. She was the queen of our brood. She may have been a bully to the other kitties but she was never mean to us.
I had her for over 10 years. I got to come home to and wake up to her company for over a decade. I love her so much. I can't believe she is gone. She was always so healthy and fluffy and perfect that it is hard to imagine that she developed cancer while still so young. She was purring with her last breath. She was my magnificent Miss Basty Fluffy Butt until the very end.
I love you Bast.
